Yesterday Malaysians do come out to serve their rights to vote and the result shows that the Peoples already decide.
The Barisan Nasional or National Front or the Coalition will form the next Government as it has won more than half the parliamentary seats with a simple majority. However, the coalition suffered some of the greatest defeats in its history. Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in accepting the results, said this was clear proof of democracy at work in the country.
Among the interesting results yesterday were:
Meanwhile, party leaders urged for calm and police have banned all victory celebrations. As I said before the People's Rules, the People is King and now the Politicians are the slave. They have to serve the People's better now. The wind of change is a clear sign that the Peoples' want better persons and government to represent them.
Today a new chapter has opened. The people have voted decisively for a new era where the government must be truly inclusive and recognize that all Malaysians, regardless of race, culture and religion are a nation of one. The people have expressed in no uncertain terms that they want accountability, transparency and the rule of law. Today unity, consensus, and mutual respect triumphed. Tomorrow, we start working to build a brighter future, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. This is a new dawn for Malaysia. The People's Rule.
